SUMMER ON BROADWAY 2008

The fast-paced fun of participating in Summer on Broadway! is here, so enroll your kids soon for this educational and exciting experience!  Past participants of Summer on Broadway! can often be seen recreating the countless songs and dances they learned.  Many of the songs, dating back to the 1890’s, include Broadway favorites and standards.  The exposure to such a wide variety of music is invaluable in so many ways to the lives of young performers and future Broadway stars.  In addition, the intense, consolidated rehearsal period helps to build friendships and musical theatre skills.  It's important that the kids attend everyday as it is very fast paced and we move right along.

Students will learn choreography and vocals for a Broadway style revue that culminates in two performances at the end of each session which is open to the public.   We have planned three, two-week sessions of age appropriate revues. Each session is a different revue and led by Jimmy Hippenstiel.

 

Session #1:  AGES 7-12 -  BROADWAY GOES WEST

 7/7/08-7/19/08  Monday-Friday 12:30pm-4:00pm

Entire Session held at MTA studio - This session has 3 performances:

Performances:  Friday 7/18/08 @ 7:30pm at McFarland Hall, Santa Ana, and Saturday 7/19/08 at Knott's Berry Farm  12:00pm and 2:00pm

Session #2:  AGES 12-18 -

ON WITH THE SHOW: BROADWAY LEADING LADIES IV  

7/28/08-8/09/08 Monday-Friday 9:00am-3:00pm

Performances held at The Ebell Theater, Santa Ana

Performances:  Friday 8/08/08 @ 7:30pm  and Saturday 8/09/08 @ 3:00pm

Session #3: AGES 9-18- DISNEY TAKES A BOW  

8/17/08-8/29/08     9:00am-3:00pm

Due to Labor Day weekend falling at the end of the session, we

are modifying the days:

1st week is Sunday, 8/17/08 thru Friday, 8/22/08

2nd week is Monday, 8/25/08 thru Thursday 8/28/08

Performances:  Thursday 8/28/08 @ 5:00pm and Friday, 8/29/08 @ 7:30pm. 

There is no daytime rehearsal on Friday 8/29/08

The first day, Sunday 8/17/08, class is held at MTA's studio

The remainder of the session and performances are held at The Ebell Theater in

Santa Ana.

FAIRY TALE THEATRE - Ages 7 and up

2 Sessions offered.  Each will present a different wacky original fairy tale by MTA alumnus and renowned director, JOHN BLAYLOCK

TINY TOT THEATRE - Ages 4-6

Join the Broadway Tots as they sing and dance their way to a stage performance!

2 Sessions offered.  Classes meet 3 days a week, Monday / Wednesday / Friday

for 2 weeks with a final Friday night performance on stage at The Ebell Theater before

our Summer on Broadway show!

MASTERFUL MONDAYS!

Ages 9-adult

Every Monday thru-out the Summer!  7 Weeks of different Master Classes. Each one unique in and of itself!!!  Each class Is taught by a theater industry professional. You may sign up for one or all seven classes, or any combination of classes!

        Classes held at the MTA Studio from 6:00pm to  9:00pm       

PRE-ENROLLMENT IS REQUIRED AT LEAST 1 WEEK PRIOR TO EACH CLASS

MTA branches out with 17 of it's finest students into a Corporate Event gig with Sara Lee Corporation

Sara Lee Corporation asked MTA students to perform at one of their West Coast Corporate events.  Sara Lee has entered into a partnership with the Walt Disney Company and will soon be kicking off a Nationwide Contest/Promotion with a “High School Musical” theme. 

The students of MTA were lucky enough to be invited to help jump start that promotion by performing High School Musical excerpts for the Sara Lee executive staff at a Los Angeles Hotel on July 14th.  More details on the promotion can be spotted soon on most Sara Lee packaging in your local grocery stores.
