IMPROV COMEDY
You could be the next cast member on Who's Line Is It Anyway?!  Learn all the comedy tricks and techniques.  This one Master Class is included in the Acting for the Musical Theatre Stage Class, (for ages 12-18).  You MUST take the Acting course in order to get the Improv Comedy class.

Come have a real belly laugh with instructor and Groundling's-trained comedienne REBECCA BARDSLEY.  Ms. Bardsley has been a comedy writer for Radio Personality Rick Dees, has been seen making guests "guffaw" throughout Disney's California Adventure, and owns her own company, aptly-named "Company Comedy Company." Learn how to think quick on your feet and sharpen up your comedic timing in this riotously funny class. You'll find yourself in unimaginably funny situations!

From "Do-Re-Mi" to "Bumblebee," learn the Art of singing your Musical Theater songs with ease and proper technique from one of the best, with our very own JESSICA CARAVELLA.  You will work on a specially selected solo just for you, or bring in your own song for a trained ear to help you im-prove on your performance.  Ms. Caravella has taught voice both privately and for the world famous "Young Americans."  She is a skilled recording Artist, and has performed at  Disneyland, as well as having been a

casting director for the Disney Entertainment Division.

Taught by MTA's own Artistic Director, JIMMY HIPPENSTIEL, you will dance through the decades…Learning a short Broadway dance routine from the 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, and 60's, it's sure to be diversified and fun for all!  Mr. Hippenstiel has danced professionally in New York and Las Vegas, as well as with Walt Disney Productions and Princess Cruises.  In addition to directing and choreographing MTA productions, he is currently the resident choreographer for the Curtain Call Dinner Theater  in Tustin and directs throughout the Southland.

MTA'S resident Acting Teacher, DEBORAH MATHEWS will teach you what it's like to "be in the moment" as you discover a whole new world of Character Development. You will explore the "Who," "What," "Why," "Where" of finding your inner character, and carry it with you to your next on stage performance! She is a proud member of Actor's Equity and a graduate of the American Center for Musical Theater in New York City, where she trained with the likes of Joanna Gleason, E. Katherine Kerr, and Deborah Lavine.

Come join the fun of the Broadway Kids at the MTA studio!  This class is for ages 5-10 and is a musical revue of Disney songs that we all know and love. No experience necessary with this 10 week session.

MUSICAL THEATER SCENIC DESIGN

Taught by the ridiculously-talented JAMES "JIMMY" MULLIGAN, this class will provide a rare opportunity for you to find out what  goes on behind the scenes by learning what goes into the making of the perfect set.  You will learn about designing the scenery and painting it with style and finesse.  You will even get to pick up a brush and practice a stroke or two!  Mr. Mulligan has graciously donated his talents to MTA in the past, and some of his other work has been seen on the National Tours of "Bye Bye Birdie" and  "Once Upon a Mattress."  He is the owner of"Mulligan Pictorials," that does high-end design projects in restaurants, offices, and homes through-out Southern Calif. & AZ..


MUSICAL THEATER AUDITION WORKSHOP

SUMMER ON 8/25/08  FOR AGES 9-ADULT

Get some helpful tips on the sometimes dreaded audition process from JIMMY HIPPENSTIEL, DEBORAH MATHEWS, and Musical Director SHARON FRAZIER.  You will be put through several "Mock" auditions in this class, and will be constructively evaluated on what went right and what areas could be improved. Please bring an 8x10 Headshot & Resume to this class (if  avail- able), and several of your standard audition tunes that you want us to hear! A professional accompanist will be provided. Ms. Frazier has been a vocal teacher for the last 16 years in Tustin Unified School District, and is constantly seen throughout Southern California sharing her considerable musical talents with various theaters and performing groups, most recently appearing in Musical Theater West's production of "Pirates of Penzance." She also Christmas Carols annually at the Disney Parks, and everywhere else!                  


FAIRY TALE THEATRE

SUMMER SCHEDULE     -  Ages 7 and up

2 Sessions offered. Each will present a different wacky original fairy tale by MTA alumnus and renowned director, JOHN BLAYLOCK.    1 week camp sessions, Monday thru Friday

with in-studio performance on the last day upon the conclusion.
